White Rock – Running with a Purpose + Giveaway!

Tons of buddies will be heading to Rock n Roll Vegas this year, but not me.  I refuse to give up Dallas White Rock Marathon.  In 1999, I ran the marathon as part of a 5-person relay team.  In 2009, I came back to run it as my first half marathon, and in 2010, I ran it as my first full marathon.  It would appear I had covered the distance every way possible, what more could I want from this…

Hottest Half Race Report

This past Sunday, I had a date with my nemesis… The Hottest Half. If you don’t remember, you can see my report from last year.  I had determined that my body did not get along with the Texas heat.  After running a 2:19 in May 2010, I could only pull of a 2:54 in August 2010 at the Hottest Half.  (Remember peeps, I’m only comparing with myself… nothing wrong with a 2:54, but it was way off from what I was…

Jingle Bell 5k Recap

I know you’ve all wondered what rock I crawled under, but it’s the holidays.  I have no other excuses… and I still have one more event to hostess – my Sunday School Christmas party tonight.  But after tonight, things should get mostly back to normal… I hope! I found out a couple weeks ago that my sister-in-law and my nephew (age 8) were going to run the Jingle Bell Run 5k, which was in downtown Dallas at 7pm on Wednesday…

Because my last post wasn’t long enough…

… I wanted to share some more of my dad’s awesome photos from the race.  (Seriously, SportPhoto should take note… I think this is his niche… sport action photography… he needs to start a sport photography company.)  These were all taken at mile 11.5.  Right before we hit the lake (which you can see in the background on the first photo, which I absolutely love). And for the record… wearing a bright green skirt and bright green socks was an…

Dallas White Rock Marathon Race Recap

I’m going to start by saying that this is a very difficult race recap to write.  I have never been so disappointed at a race.  The marathon high that everyone talks about, I don’t have.  I am surrounded by amazing people (especially all of you) that have given me support, encouragement, congrats, and accolades, but unfortunately I cannot change how I’m currently feeling.  Give me a few days, hopefully it’ll all sink in. The night before, I set everything out…

Why Dallas White Rock Marathon?

One year ago I ran my first half marathon at Dallas White Rock.  On December 5th, I will run my first full marathon at Dallas White Rock.  Choosing this race was not arbitrary… I choose this race very deliberately. In mid-2009, a friend threw out the idea of running a half marathon.  I had been running, but nothing spectacular.  My running workout usually consisted of 40-80 minutes on the treadmill alternating between running and walking (rarely running more than 1…

Safety, Safety, Safety

There was no question what I was going to blog about today.  In fact, I usually catch up my blog reading before I start writing, but not today.  Last night there was a tragedy in Dallas, and it is weighing on me. Here’s the article from the Dallas Morning News: Dallas woman critically injured when bicycle hits her on Katy Trail   11:08 AM CDT on Friday, October 1, 2010 By TOM BENNING / The Dallas Morning News A 28-year-old…
